António Brízida Miranda

Building businesses where others hesitate. Fifteen years across Sub-Saharan Africa. General Manager • Country Director • Frontier Markets

What I Do

I lead operations in markets where infrastructure is unreliable, political risk is real, and most platforms underperform. My work has one throughline: converting complex environments into profitable, scalable businesses.

P&L Turnarounds

I take loss-making operations and return them to growth, and I build new platforms from zero in frontier markets. I rebuilt a broken agribusiness into a USD 30M platform generating USD 2.7M net profit in 18 months. At Wilmar International, I built the Southern Africa platform from start-up to USD 35M revenue across four countries. Full P&L ownership, reporting to international boards in Singapore, Dubai and Europe.

Multi-Country Ops

Port terminals, cross-border logistics, regulatory complexity, agro-commodity value chains. I have managed 160,000 MT of annual port throughput across Maputo, Beira, Nacala and Dar es Salaam. I have moved grains, edible oils and soft commodities from sourcing through international distribution, flows exceeding 100,000 MT across multiple countries. Operations across Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia and Tanzania.

Projects

Selected milestones shaping my journey across Africa.

Established a $35m platform with 160,000 mt throughput.

Restructured a $90m trading division amid market shifts.

Cargill Ops

Cut incidents by 85%, improving safety and efficiency.

Antonio Brizida Miranda took on one of the hardest assignments I've handed anyone — stepping into a General Manager role that required rebuilding a business from the ground up, in a volatile market, with very little institutional support.
He walked in with open eyes. And he delivered.
What Antonio did well wasn't just the restructuring — it was holding the business together during a brutal leadership transition, working independently in conditions of high ambiguity, and making sound decisions without the luxury of a stable platform beneath him. That takes a particular kind of grit.

I recommend him without reservation.

I have worked with Antonio Brízida Miranda on his capacity of GM - Agriculture, during this period Antonio demonstrated great leadership capabilities and knowledge of the business.  Antonio is a passionate person on his job and an objective driven individual, he is for sure an asset in any organization, he works with.

The Record

Reputations in executive roles are not self-declared. They are built, one working relationship at a time. Here is what mine looks like.
"He's the kind of leader people follow when the mission is real — not because it's easy, but because he makes it worth it."
"He was able to turnaround the business under a difficult environment with shortage of key products"
